The site of the former Velag animal feed factory was transformed into a residential neighbourhood and two new wings were added. The conversion of the long former factory building is divided into four sections. The silo tower in the south resisted any changes due to its small-scale reinforced concrete structure and was retained as a landmark, with a penthouse flat on the roof.
The adjoining eight-storey building is characterised by large, alternating suspended balconies on the factory façade. In the third section, small flats were built on the lower three storeys, with maisonettes with roof terraces above. The final section to the north is again a tower-like structure with one five-room flat per floor.
The new south-facing building is rationally organised. Six small flats per floor with wide loggias facing south are accessed via the pergola. The longer, east- and west-facing wing of the new building has a good mix of flat sizes, again with loggias and light on both sides. It is the unintentional, concrete figure of this modified industrial building, which is not determined by formal considerations, that has an identity-forming effect.
