After 20 years of existence of Bregenz Tourismus & Stadtmarketing GmbH, we have modernised the tourist information office on the ground floor at Rathausstraße 35a. Built at the beginning of the 19th century, the Heimatstil building with its majestic double gable is a listed building. With our respectful remodelling work, we have preserved the strong, existing architectural elements, such as the wide arched windows, while developing a clear and inviting concept for visitors and employees.

We divided the large space into three areas that are visually connected. Behind the main entrance is a spacious foyer with a wall-filling shelf for travel brochures and a touchscreen where visitors can search for information on their own. This area is separated from the main room by a sliding glass door and is therefore accessible regardless of the opening hours of the tourist office.

The main room is naturally lit by the existing large windows and offers views of Kornmarktplatz and the Vorarlberg Museum. Behind the long, free-standing consultation desk, a floor-to-ceiling wooden cabinet separates the back office. A wide opening runs the entire length of the furniture at eye level, allowing employees to communicate easily with each other and keep an eye on what is happening in the main room.

The light-coloured oak wood creates a warm, inviting atmosphere and a beautiful contrast to the dark natural stone floor and white walls.
