Compact block outside – green atrium inside

The new state service centre near the train station is easily accessible as a central point of contact for administrative procedures – for the people of Salzburg, but also for the up to 1,200 employees. The modern, seven-storey office complex is a place of diverse encounters and communication with citizens. On the outside, the compact perimeter block development conveys urbanity, while on the inside, an access intersection forms four spacious, partially covered inner courtyards.

The state service centre is a modern timber hybrid: a solid base with wooden upper floors. The office wings are set on top of the exterior prefabricated reinforced concrete brackets, which give rhythm to the arcades.

The two-storey, transparent plinth accommodates the public uses: citizen services, kindergarten, cafeteria, ideas room, service yard. A surrounding arcade breaks up the austere block and protects the entrances from the weather.

Inviting Entrée

At the station forecourt, a green atrium flanks the inviting entrance to the citizens' service, which leads into the central, two-storey hall flooded with light. From there, the consultation areas on the first floor can be reached via a prestigious staircase and three customer lifts.

Terraces on the plinth

The working environment of the offices is distributed over the four upper floors, which project above the plinth. The flexibly interconnectable and optimally lit units are accessed via the cross-shaped core areas and linked together in a variety of ways. Green terraces are located on the projecting plinth areas in the inner courtyard. The restaurant, conference area and the large, lushly planted roof terrace on the sixth floor offer a beautiful panoramic view from the Kapuzinerberg to Maria Plain.
