From the 16th to the 21st century
The history of the hotel "Zum Hirschen" in Salzburg's Elisabeth suburb dates back to the 16th century. The current owner family acquired the inn in 1830. Together with Tom Lechner, we have renovated the hotel and expanded it with modern architecture. Under the name "Am Hirschengrün", 42 flats plus an underground car park were built alongside the completely renovated hotel.
The inner courtyard with flower garden, kitchen garden, play area and open spaces offers hotel guests and residents a green oasis of relaxation and recreation. The new urban component "Am Hirschengrün" stands for a holistic residential concept that combines hotel, dining, garden and offices.

Striking timber façade
In the interests of sustainability, the new residential building was designed as a timber hybrid. Its striking timber façade sets contemporary accents within the cityscape. A transparent bridge on the 3rd floor connects the hotel with the new building. The deli on the ground floor is a place for all Salzburg residents.

Green courtyard instead of car park
The closed development of Saint-Julien-Straße and Elisabethstraße and the construction of a two-storey underground car park made it possible to create a 5,000 m² green inner courtyard instead of asphalted parking spaces. Wooden loggias & balconies with a view of the garden offer peace and relaxation in the middle of the city centre.
A deli on the ground floor with a terrace overlooking the inner courtyard opens up the site to all Salzburg residents and creates a new, urban green space.

A total of around 1,000 cubic metres of wood are used in the two extensions. The large-format CLT solid wood panels in exposed wood quality are energy-efficient, durable, recyclable, highly resilient and CO2-neutral. Wood is also a tangible material for the residents inside: visible wooden ceilings and walls create a warm atmosphere and a special living experience.
