2016 Innovatives Mobilitätskonzept
Following extensive feasibility studies, the go-ahead was given in 2010 for a reutilisation concept for the former Maggi site in Bregenz. The traditional but unused industrial site was to be reintegrated into the urban context.
Two revitalised historic factory buildings and six new buildings form a new residential quarter that revitalises the wasteland between Lake Constance and the city centre. The balanced mix includes subsidised rental flats and owner-occupied flats as well as assisted living flats and communal facilities.
The original enclosure has been retained and brings the heterogeneous site together to form a new neighbourhood. The old buildings form the start of the estate, while the new buildings are grouped behind them around a green square. Immediately adjacent to this is the heart of the residential complex, a square house with communal areas for the neighbourhood.
All non-profit residential buildings offer passive house standard with controlled ventilation. The private flats are built in an energy-optimised way. A special feature of the complex is that there are no above-ground parking spaces; all necessary parking spaces are located underground in an underground car park.
