Aiming high with wood
A mosaic is made up of many individual pieces that fit together harmoniously. Colourful, modular, lively and connecting - this is also what the Moosaik urban quarter at the entrance to Starnberg is to become. At the centre of this district, we are building a timber office tower. Called Moo 6, it complements the surrounding ensemble of buildings with its height and presence and forms the unmissable centrepiece of the quarter.
The restaurant area on the ground floor with its large terrace creates a link between inside and outside. The flexibly divisible office units on the upper floors attract a wide variety of users and thus ensure diversity and vitality.
Sustainable flexibility
Flexibility as the core of genuine sustainability is reflected in the supporting structure. The office units, some of which span several storeys, can be divided individually within the respective levels. In addition to the photovoltaic system, the roof also houses a terrace for the employees
Column, joist and slab
Multi-storey timber structures require simplicity, moderate spans and consistency in construction. We have designed the rising storeys in a regular grid in an almost traditional way: column, joist and slab form a storey, which is repeated many times at the top.
The sophistication lies in the detail – in the choice of products, in the intelligent combination of timber and concrete and in the joining of the timber construction. While columns and beams made of structural timber form the vertical supporting structure alongside the solid staircase core, the ceilings consist of flat cross-laminated timber panels with poured concrete. The timber panel and concrete act as a composite and, as an „TCC ceiling", offer the best values in terms of load-bearing capacity, stability, fire resistance and sound insulation.
Striking wooden grid
The very minimalist glass façade and the suspended timber grid envelop the tower. Plant troughs structure the appearance and, together with the textile sun protection screens, provide shade. Generous balconies and loggias create high-quality outdoor spaces with views and a tangible proximity to the lake.
