Best training conditions for the national team

The new ÖFB Campus is an important centre of attraction in the Seestadt Aspern residential area. The project comprises the new ÖFB headquarters, a small stadium with an outdoor stand for 1,000 spectators, a training hall, five football pitches and regeneration and fitness areas. The functional and representative architecture provides optimal training conditions for the 10 selection teams and is also used for national matches in Vienna and the surrounding area.

The compact, homogeneous new building floats confidently above the modelled landscape on slender supports. A semi-transparent solar protection membrane lines the entire building and can also be used as an information carrier for advertising and information about football.

The complex functions are neatly organised: The plinth houses changing rooms, regeneration and fitness areas for the players as well as areas for the groundsman and greenkeeping. The open access floor above houses the public access areas of the stadium, the ÖFB headquarters and the press area.

The two upper floors house the offices, the sports medicine centre and the VIP areas of the stadium. The entrances for the players are sheltered to the east, while those for staff are to the west. The public entrance on the south side of the building leads to the spectator stands via the red-coloured forecourt.

The textile strips on the upper floors, which also serve as sun protection, can be printed all round. The restrained materialisation continues inside. The office is designed as an efficient reinforced concrete skeleton structure. Round columns and ceilings made of exposed concrete make the construction visible.

Design in red-white-red

To ensure that the compact large form of the building does not appear too dominant, we deliberately kept the design restrained. The clearly structured ribbon façade of the ÖFB headquarters with the external sun screen, the white grid ceiling on the access floor and the metal panels at the base of the hall create clarity and sovereignty. The white ceilings and red-coloured concrete surfaces create an exciting contrast. The cantilevered upper storeys roof over the grandstand.

The training hall

The covered training hall is available to schools and kindergartens in the mornings. In the afternoons, evenings and at weekends, it is used by private groups and clubs as a soccer hall.
