Growing office ring with great appeal
The legero united campus in the south of Graz consists of two round buildings of different sizes. The larger office ring can be extended by a further floor at any time. This fulfils the client's wish for a company headquarters that "grows with the company" and can be expanded in stages, without creating a temporary structure, a torso. The smaller cylinder houses the shoe outlet.
Generous glazing, the façade made of bronze-coloured, anodised aluminium that shimmers in the sunlight and the lushly planted inner courtyard blur the boundaries between inside and outside. The result is a campus as a place with its own identity and great charisma, a dynamic yet harmonious composition, at all times and in all phases of construction.
The flexible circles
The structure of the office ring is designed so that a further storey can be added above the flat roof. The circular floor plans create varied spatial experiences as you move through the storeys and allow for flexible designs.
The green oasis
The enclosed form protects against noise pollution on the outside and creates an independent inner world on the inside, which invites communication and relaxation through glass pavilions, wooden decks and diverse planting.
The solid ground floor
The two floors of the office ring are deliberately designed very differently. The ground floor with the semi-public areas of the foyer, company restaurant and meeting rooms is made of reinforced concrete. The exposed concrete columns, walls and ceilings reflect the robustness and workshop character of the sample production. Wooden furniture and acoustic elements on the ceiling ensure that the atmosphere is not too cool.
The wooden upper floor
The upper floor is designed as a timber construction. This shortens the construction time and makes it easier to add storeys to the building. The essential elements of the timber structure can thus be seen and experienced in the building. Metal ceiling elements create an attractive contrast. Aesthetic, economical and sustainable.
The sustainable construction
Timber and composite columns, ceiling-high reinforced concrete beams and timber-concrete composite ceilings were prefabricated in a modular system and assembled on site. This allowed not only rapid construction progress but also a sophisticated, defined design of the surfaces.
The two storeys are accessed via three cores, which house the entire infrastructure and building services as well as the kitchenette and a break loggia overlooking the inner courtyard. As a result, the remaining areas remain free of fixtures and fittings and offer maximum flexibility for work areas.
The Shoemakers-Outlet
The cylindrical shoe outlet is located next to the office ring. Set cylinders of different sizes and functions as well as a surrounding gallery structure its flowing sequence of rooms and create an optimal shopping experience. The column-free space is spanned by a star-shaped timber structure. The building can also be flexibly remodelled according to requirements and developments.
